Pros

There are flexible schedules. Compensation seems comparable. As long as you have the right store manager, the job can be fun and rewarding.

Cons

You have to be willing to swing shifts including midnights. There are far fewer advancement opportunities now that the company's strategy is switiching to from expansion to cost control. If you have the wrong store manager, then in can be an intolerable situation. Some managers do not seem to understand there are only so many ways to build a toilet paper floor stack.

Pros

Good pay! I found that it was a great starting job just out of college. Excellent profit share ($2 to every $1 match for the first two percent taken out).

Cons

The Walgreens market is getting smaller which means the chance to move up in the company is becoming impossible. As a manager, you will never be off for a holiday, including Christmas Day, and if you are located in a 24 hour store this stands true more so. 24 hour stores and pharmacies are open 24 / 7 / 365. When I first started, my yearly salary quote was based on 4 hours of over time each week, however, when Walgreens started downsizing, they cut Assistant's overtime since we are paid on an hourly rate. This lead to around a $4000 cut in pay each year. Also, Management Trainee means learn evrything yourself and hope for the best (every store I have worked at so far).

Pros

System is idiot proof, there is low chance of errors. Dyas went quick, I had a fixed two week schedule.

Cons

No time for patients, Came in every day and checked 250 - 300 scripts and then go home... It was boring.
