Pros

Walgreens has amazing technology and it makes your job easy. Walgreens pays their pharmacists very well, and all pharmacists get paid the same regardless of experience, based only on position. Benefits accrue based solely on hours worked and years with the company. They are under a lot of scrutiny as a large company, so they try to make everything as fair as possible. Scheduling is very flexible, and the work is flexible in that you can transfer stores if you want to move.

Cons

The atmosphere is fluorescent lighting and tacky floor displays. It's not the kind of place where you would choose to spend time unless you were getting paid.

Pros

great place for hourly cashiers, photo lab, stockers, etc. Good benefits. They do understand health care better than most employers. Great training programs in place for all positions. In most locations there is a sense of security. Yearly reviews are given to all positions. Employee discounts are 20% and if you know how to shop the ad's it can be a real help to your families finances. Great direction from field. District and Regional directors are very well trained in dealing with store management. It is a very old fashioned work environment with very ethical practices in place to deal with overall customer satisfaction.

Cons

Only for management. High external theft. No sense of security in "urban" locations. They not only want to rob you of your cash but also your drugs in the pharmacy. Scary. Once you are a store manager, even if you are relocatable, there is absolutely no room for advancement. Your customer service issues can be of monumental proportions. Once in a lifetime photos of a wedding or the birth of a baby, or any number of occasions are ruined by a $7.00 an hour clerk. How do you resolve that? Someone is denied life saving medication by their insurance company but we are the messenger. No way to calm that person down.
