Pros

The company has been going through major changes in senior management and organization structures in the past two years and are in the processes of implementing recommendations from several consulting companies in every area you could possibly think of. Overall it's heading a better direction compared to two years ago and there are lots of opportunities out there.

Cons

Working in a big old company that is going through major overhauls could be chaotic. Many top executives are too old fashioned and really cannot keep up with the constantly changing environment. Even after laying off several hundreds people at the corporate, the company is overstaffed with useless analysts and clueless middle management. The compensation is decent but the benefits are horrible. Reviews, very often, are not based on performance, which discourage hard-working employees. People, especially the middle management, tend to spend most of their time in meetings without really generating any deliverables.

Pros

The working environment at my department is fairly layback. It's great for new graduates, married people, especially ones with kids. The working hour is flexible. You can work from home if needed or push back the deadline. Most of people are nice and seem to have been working at Walgreens forever.

Cons

There is no clear career pace for analytical background people. It's very likely that you report to someone without technical/analytical knowledge. And he/she is not allowed you to have direct reporting. The base salary is Okay, but unlike working in other industries, there is no bonus for analysts at Walgreens.

Pros

Not a bad salary for little experience, benefits are good compared to competitors

Cons

More stock work than management, never had a weekend off in the two years I worked for them, rarely had two consecutive days off, store manager refused to let me have more than one day off while my wife was in the hospital in the ICU unit, sick days are nonexistent.
