Pros

Good pay for salaried management. Above industry averages. Great benefits with company contributions. Profit Sharing is wonderful and beneficial with company distributions. Regular benefits (medical, dental, ect.) is good. Lots of opportunity to learn, grow, lead, develop. As an assistant store manager, there is much opportunity to analyze current store and competitors. Lots of room for personal contribution in relation to growing the store based on personal ideas and innovations.

Cons

As an executive assistant store manager there can be many cons to the job including long hours at times with most of them being on your feet. Leading an entire store of personnel can be challenging at times. The company has recently merged with Alliance Boots and with many changes in the past couple years, there are many more changes to come, which can be very stressful and a bit much at times. The company is constantly re-evaluating and cutting budgets, which can be very difficult on team members. Especially on the assistant store manager, because of being salaried, you have to pick up the slack where no one else can.

Pros

The computer system was state-of-the-art, and the services provided were first of their kind when I started working there. Salary and bonuses were great also.

Cons

The upper management seemed disconnected with team staff in that store-level problems were sometimes ignored by supervisors. A general turn from patient-centered goals to numbers/dollars-centered goals left staff and customers feeling resentful.

Pros

Growing globally, could possibly be a contender to improve the healthcare industry. Gives you insight on how to manage similar to a health care setting. Requires you to be a certified pharmacy tech so that you can fully understand and manage the business.

Cons

Company has been going through structural changes for about 3 years. Often asked not to give information to employees about changing job titles and compensation. Definition of quality work varies from district to district, which causes disengagement of store managers. Company had too many objectives to focus on at one time that it created a lot of confusion for store managers about where to focus attention to grow sales. Working towards efficiency could be difficult at times because of the disconnect between corporate and stores.
