Pros

It was a great company to work for 10 years ago. Well compensated. If you are crazy enough to take the pharmacy manager position there is an opening about once a month due too high turnover.

Cons

Overwhelming work load since Boots got involved with Walgreens their business model is to "reduce and stretch the staff". Profits take first priority over patient safety. You constantly try to keep up as a pharmacist but more and more metrics are thrown at you. Upper management is not sympathetic and often overbearing. Pharmacists must report to non-pharmacists and often have to explain their rational. Mistakes sometimes go under reported because if you make too many you are put on a performance improvement plan and replaced. If you value your quality of life, it is a good idea to look elsewhere if possible.

Pros

Innovative leader in the industry. Constantly working to change boundaries of business capabilities through adding health services.

Cons

Although all directives are sugar coated as "helping" the customers, its all about bigger and better profits. They have squeezed the staff (both professional and support) so tight that there is no more blood able to come from these stones.....and yet corporate keeps trying. It feels like most of the time profits come WAY before customer service and even safety and employee satisfaction is never considered. All employees are expendable and replaceable.

Pros

Pretty good hourly wage.. but based on cost of living in where you work.

Cons

If you get a busy store you will work harder than you have ever worked in your life.. Lunch? Never! Breaks? Never! Want to stay late to help your fellow pharmacists who are swamped? Sure, no prob. Will you get paid overtime for that? Heck No! I frequently work 10 - 12 hours shifts. Never lunch or even a break.. except to RUN to bathroom and RUN back! Get a job a hospital or somewhere else instead. Yet, I'm glad I have a high paying job!
