Pros

The discount. 25% on Walgreen's items and 15% on everything else. Can't think of another pro so I am meeting the 20 word minimum by typing this sentence.

Cons

Th pay. 8.20 an hour as a cashier. "Shift leads", the person you think that is at least an assistant manager, the one who does everything a manager does when the one "store manager" is not there don't make much more than that. Further, the "Shift Leads" used to be called assistant managers until some corporate bottom-line zealousness changed their title to shift lead so they could reduce their pay. Their duties are exactly the same however. And that's the con of employment at Walgreens. That cold, calculated, corporate greed that runs through the entire culture of Walgreens.

Pros

A darling of Wall Street, very profitable, great knowledge and a leader in retail.

Cons

Does not have great respect for employees, "nepotism" runs rampant, and people management is very inconsistent.

Pros

Flexibility to be out of the store (in my role), profit sharing is solid and has a variety of good funds to choose from, salary is higher than average for the area and for the work involved.

Cons

The company is and has been changing exponentially throughout the last 5 years. Now a global company, outsiders are revamping the company to more closely mirror their European operations. Work-life balance is fair but can be difficult at times of the year and if you are a driven person. Leadership is as mixed as it comes. My current boss is horrible, my former boss was terrific. PTO policy is horrible and benefits were actually lost when they went to this new model.
