Pros

We get psuedo-paid holidays, and by that I mean they will tally up your average weekly hours, divide it by 5 days in a workweek, and pay you an extra "average" workday. So if you only work 15 hours a week, but just so happen to work a holiday, you will only make an extra 3 hours worth of pay. We also get an employee discount of 15%, which is helpful, but things are generally cheaper elsewhere. I'm apparently lucky enough to work at a store where most employees are helpful and easy to get along with, although management is a bit on the condescending side.

Cons

When i was hired i received a total of 2 days training before closing the Photo Dept alone. From what I've noticed this is normal practice at the store I'm in, especially with the hours that got cut lately. Management will treat us employees like we are just there to do all the work while they do the bare minimum. Pay raises are impossible to get, and when they do come it's a slap in the face. Hard workers get pushed to do obscene amounts of work, while the less motivated employees don't get assigned anything because management knows the job wont get done.

Pros

Good co-workers and many good managers. Enjoy the work and opportunities to learn more. Decent offices in Deerfield and Chicago Old Post Office.

Cons

Compensation and benefits are sub-par. C-suite leadership needs to better understand regular employees who aren’t making millions. Silly in-office policy that is getting worse and is on its way to 5 days per week because of senior leadership managing like it’s 1985. Clearly doesn’t understand what it’s like to have the life of a normal working person. This old style management could doom the company turnaround.

Pros

A few great loyal people still work here.

Cons

Tracey Brown and Sr Leaders. They have no idea what they are doing. Support Center totally out of touch. HR leadership is a joke with 4 CHROs in 5 years. By the team they realize how antiquated our systems and processes are they leave. They seem to forget that 200k employees work in the field. Build processes for support center employees and try to make the same thing work in stores and it doesn't. Could be so much better if they would just ask field leaders what is needed. Instead they just continue to role out nonsense. They got rid of everyone who loved and took pride in Walgreens. They are laying hundreds of people off right and left and no care or consideration shown. Others they place in new roles, with new expectations and different territories and expect them to be grateful they have a job.
