Pros

Software development teams are given a large amount of freedom to do things how they want. Management is not afraid to let "associates" take risks. The annual bonus is usually quite good. Promotions are no more difficult to come by than they are elsewhere. Wal-Mart has a huge connection to almost every vendor one could imagine. Therefore, many Wal-Mart employees view a job here as a "stepping stone" to somewhere else, and it is very good for that.

Cons

The large degree of freedom given to software development teams is accomplished via little oversight, which leads to convoluted, hard to maintain systems built by junior developers. Annual salary is below industry average - they will attempt to justify this by the cheaper cost of living in Bentonville, but the salary gap is much larger than this could account for. Health benefits are not good. You will works lots of hours and nights and frequently be "on call" 24x7 - especially if you are a "go-to" person. Mandatory 7:30am - 5:30pm workday for salaried employees.

Pros

The warehouse size 1.2 mil sq ft, 25 miles of conveyor belt in building. How everything and everyone work together to achieve a goal of getting goods to the customer is truly amazing. Work with some great people. The pay and benefits are very good. I don't mind the work itself, but the pressure of making production makes all the difference.

Cons

Some of the leadership is very good. Some of it is in not keeping with the company's 3 basic beliefs: Respect for the Individual • Service to our Customers • Striving for Excellence. The company increase production rates every year, increasing the already high amount of stress in the warehouse. They push the employees beyond what is reasonable. As a result, often times, employees cut corners to achieve production goals, compromising safety and product integrity, which in turn lowers morale. People are exhausted. They chug energy drinks and energy pills like they were water and candy, which compromises their endocrine systems and causes further exhaustion.

Pros

I have been with walmart for a few months now, and im loving it there. I work in overnight frozen/dairy, and though it may not pay well, its better pay than my last job. Cant really complain much. Friendly management, hard working employees, and stocks are mostly up.

Cons

Some dont follow the book when it comes to the rules and safty, inventory is a nightmare, and its almost impossible to move up unless you work so hard your body hits the floor.
