Pros

It is a steady job and helps in paying our bills. Able to transfer from one store to another. From one state to another.

Cons

I feel Walmart discriminates against The disable and elderly. They hire them as a show that they care, however most of them can only be in the position of door greeters. They are told they are the most important in the store because they are the first and last people customers see and that is the last impression thay are left with. Then they are given the lowest pay in the company. Most in these position are there because that is the only thing they may be able to do physically. I have been with Walmart for over 6 years along with my wife we have only missed 7 days total. We are there we we are scheduled. i have missed 3 days and my wife 4. I have lost over .60 an hour in the past year because I have to do a less physical job. Last year I was making $10.20 hr and recieved a .40 raise and now I make $10.00 hr a loss of .60 hr. The stores make up their own rules. ie: 3 stores in the same area. 1gives a daily premium of $1 daily after 5pm and all say Sunday. 2 other stores only give the $1 on Sunday. They keep saying we are a team but then they pay on differnt levels. If you are moved from one position to another you either are paid more or less depending on the level. However they don"t have enough jobs or things for everyone to have a chance to be on the pay level they need to make a living. If we are a team then why are we not paid fairly? They also bring in new employees and pay them almost as much as an employee that has been there faithfully for several years.

Pros

There are a lot of friendly people. The CEO, Raul Vazquez, does seem to be a genuine, pleasant person.

Cons

Management doesn't appear to care about employees or retaining quality people. Little promotion within the company. Management are often brought in from outside the company and then come in with big egos but little knowledge about how this company works and tend to have little respect for the existing employees. Benefits are so so. Very few days off (holidays follow the few holidays that store employees get). Senior management in Arkansas don't seem to appreciate the work that is being done on the website. There is a big cultural gap between the people in Arkansas and the Bay Area.

Pros

- rsu were for management but now capped - no one wants to work so unanimous silent days - if you are very motivated you can learn

Cons

- management is like that of animal farm - everyone is equal but some are more equal than other - you want to learn how to go into politics this is best place to start - you can do a phd in caveman psychology - india vs usa 247. They keep fighting like rabid dogs in upper management. - to make india win this race , managers and especially directors will keep pushing you to work on useless stuff which has no impact eventually. - Wanna be AI company, is not even a tech company - vibe coding is pushed now days - attrition rate is super high in leadership, daily new person will show up make some north star plan and disappear - entire company is reinventing the wheel in silos, now they hired some talent to solve this but the fellow is too much into his own head to understand or listen on ground issues - over scrutiny, no boundaries, and no love for tech. - race politics at peak - food is bad on most days, everyone will go at same time in idc and then whole building will smell like a dhaba - few bright eyed engineers are always downgraded by colleagues and seniors - list can go on and on - truth is this was not Sam dream , in-fact sam was not a techie but a capitalist and like all capitalist sentiments there is class divisions , race politics and concentration of power and wealth
