Pros

Pay is excellent compared to other places Lower level managers are generally very communicative, lenient, and effective Depending on the job and manager on duty, atmosphere can be very relaxed Management is very willing to work with employees when it comes to scheduling. Very nice for college students

Cons

Some stores are run by stereotypical management types that don't have a problem lying to employees in order to avoid confrontation Depending on the store, working a lower level job like helping hands makes you feel like you are on a chain gang. Not allowed to talk to other employees, listen to music in one ear, or take even a 5 minute break without announcing it to everyone

Pros

Please surroundings and environment. Executive Level Management down-to-earth. Location is good and customers are generally pleasant and nice to be around.

Cons

Wegmans is quite proud of being on the Fortune Magazine Best Places to Work List and uses this information at every opportunity. Don't Drink The Koolaid! While your coworkers may be pleasant to deal with, communication from management is non-existant and scheduling is problematic. Availability is demanded of each employee but the hours assigned varies between too many and not enough - no attention is paid to the number of hours agreed upon at the time of hire. The hourly wage is perhaps better than at other grocery stores but it is very demoralizing to see your fellow employees paying for their groceries with Food Stamps. Wegmans may be a viable option if you have no other choices or are in dire straits, but if you have any education, experience, or skills look elsewhere!
