Toxic sinking ship

Pros

It's better than welfare or being homeless.

Cons

Terrible leadership that doesn't value employees at all. Compliance and risk department was been majorly slashed and all talent and knowledge has left. Shouldn't be long before one of the regulators hammers them with a fine, CEO has managed to drive the company value into the dirt since taking over (market cap is literally at 50% of what it was when he started) but he is making $13 million a year so he probably doesn't care.

Pros

Exposure to backend systems and microservices architecture. Competitive starting compensation. Leaves & medical insurance.

Cons

Decision-making is often driven by favoritism—both from US-based leadership and the India site head. Several director-level roles have been filled/introduced by individuals lacking the necessary skills or leadership qualities, leading to self-centered management and the marginalization of capable employees. Overuse of tracking tools like Pluralsight Flow reflects a lack of trust in engineers. This focus on activity metrics over meaningful outcomes undermines morale and creativity. The company is shifting hiring focus to HCL partners in Hyderabad, while the Pune tech center is being reduced to a managerial oversight role. Coupled with stagnant salary hikes (under 4%) and rigid hybrid work rules (3 days in-office, 9 hours/day), No work flexibilty, everyday late night call are new norms. No Shift allowance. New norms throught the org is: when things go well and deliveries are successful, managers/products/PMOs are quick to take credit—often involving dozens of people in celebratory emails. However, when issues arise, no one steps up to take responsibility, and the blame is usually pushed down to the developers.
