Pros

The only pro that I can honestly say is that there is a paycheck.at the end of the week and that they pay for my weekly flights back and forth to the States.

Cons

As a senior manager I understand the importance of the bottom line. But this company goes to the extreme to save a buck. Wipro apparently underbid this project and make their Canadian footprint. I get it, a lost leader... common practice...but...if it were only that simple. Executive refuse to invest in the project and keep making excuses to the client and cutting corners. It is so severely underfunded that at our weekly exec meetings it is consistently implied that Canada Post will kick us off the project due to lack of staff and resources. The in-fighting at this company is unbelievable and borders on juvenile. There is little to no respect shown to employees by senior management and we are encouraged to work them as if they are still in India. Wipro displaces local employees by importing under paid staff from India and have them work while they are on non-working visas. I have lost count of the number of employees that were sent back to India from the Ottawa airport due to the inconsistencies of the employee reason for coming to Canada (and the States as well) and what has been documented with immigration. Sales doesn't care about their relationship with the client now that they have made the sale of data center services. Although they keep trying to up-sell crap to a client that has no respect for them. Sales is more interested in the money that can be generated between business units...at expense of CRM. To those of you who are considering working for this company, either in the States or Canada, re-consider and ask yourself if you want to be a corporate robot or an individual who's education, opinions and values are respected. If you're the former, take the job. If you're the latter, run. One last note, remember that HR works for the company, not the employee. I'm made aware of everything about my staff, there is no confidentiality.

Pros

Great variety of roles. If you negotiate hard, basic pay and bonus is good. The general 'Sunshine' nature of the Indian culture permeates through most of the organisation and can be a real pleasure to work in.

Cons

There is no 'Human' in the company HR culture - just Resource. The organisation appears to be run by the back-office function (in particular HR) which has created a 'cardboard cut-out' version of company culture and values to enable it to position itself alongside companies from developed economies. In doing so, the company presents a veneer of developed economy respectability which has been added to tick boxes concerning integrity, fair play and overall honesty in its dealings. Alongside these concerns, the cultural structure and accompanying nepotism means that only a very small number of people have decision making capability. The rest will go to extraordinary lengths to avoid being made to carry an 'R' or 'A' from the RACI matrix. Essentially, this culture is one that means you cannot trust most people to stand up and take ownership when things get difficult or look bad. The back office function is appalling by developed economy standards. You will rarely get anything achieved in a straightforward manner, despite the vast number of highly diverse and complex internal support systems. Again, there is nothing 'Human' in the treatment of employees from the perspective of individual support. If you can cope with doing everything yourself, including following up on even small things multiple times to get anything done, this is the company for you.

Pros

You get to work on lots of different technologies, contracting advantages, global presence.

Cons

Normally pays lowest, pay structure is complex and sometimes tricking you of your money - caution, lots of managers normally lie about the role to lure people and once you find out you will be bullied to continue working, reviews and appraisals are normally rigged. There is a huge gap in the integrity organisation boasts and what it actually achieves.
