Pros

Satisfaction of working for an institution that works to reduce poverty around the world with smart economic advice and financing. Good work life balance. Very smart and intellectual colleagues who want to make a difference in the world.

Cons

Being effectively an international civil service (the Bank is owned by over 180 member countries) Internal politics can at times be demotivating, but the satisfaction of the noble mission of the Bank compensates.

Pros

Great professionals to work with Great learning experience Great work environment

Cons

It's nearly impossible to become a staff member unless you're an economist or a policy expert. Very few career opportunities if you're a communications or media expert. If you start as a consultant you can be a consultant for life and you'll work as a full time staff member but without any benefits.
