Pros

Working at IFC provides an opportunity to have a direct impact on global development through supporting private sector investments, a diverse and collaborative working environment, and opportunities for professional growth and learning through exposure to cutting-edge industry practices and international experts.

Cons

The downsides of working with IFC include, like any large organization, bureaucracy and lengthy decision-making processes that can slow down projects. Frequent travels and demanding timelines could also impact work-life balance. Most importantly, management's reluctance to give staff permanent contracts is a real obstacle to their self-realisation. The rules and criteria for awarding these contracts to staff need to be clearly set out, accessible to high performers over time, and applied with full transparency, as it should be.
