Pros

Good experience. Learned a lot about statistical arbitrage. They gave us training sessions to test the alpha platform. It worked pretty well.

Cons

The work is pretty challenge and they didn't give us much instruction. I need to read many books and articles to learn knowledge. The book, active portfolio management, gave me some inspiration.

Pros

Interesting problem; gave us a lot of data sets; lot of freedom to come up with original predictive models - can use simple to sophisticated machine learning based methods. Promotions are fair and completely performance based.

Cons

Competitive culture, lot of secrecy. No one really talked to each other. Constantly compared you with others, not a healthy environment to be in for an extended period of time. They even employ some underhanded tactics when negotiating salary.
