I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at AT&T in Sep 2009
Interview
The interview involved questions on what I was working on. It was more of a technical interview and had questions on my willingness to work on new technologies. There was an initial phone interview followed by an on-site interview. The background verification took a month but otherwise the process was very smooth.
The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at AT&T (Atlanta, GA) in May 2011
Interview
I responded to a LinkedIn message from a recruiter contracted to AT&T Consulting. He knew a bunch of people I have worked with in the past, making for an easy connection.
AT&T Consulting is the former acquitision Callisma. Callisma in itself was a bunch of people from International Network Services.
AT&T Consulting is trying to grow their Microsoft Lync practice, and are being very aggressive in their recruiting efforts. It appears they are looking for just consultants at this time, as my management experience wasn't desired. They were lowballing the salary, so if you have the Lync talent, then make sure you are compensated for it.
The organization is exceptionally spread out. You will likely not meet people face to face until late in the interview process. You should also expect the work environment to be the same.
