I applied online. I interviewed at Amazon in Mar 2021
Interview
It's all about STAR...... if you don't answer in the STAR structure, you can forget about any chances with Amazon. If Charles Manson answered using the STAR technique, he would get hired. If Albert Einstein didn't use the STAR technique, he would be declined.

Question 1
Explain a time where you faced a difficult task and had to choose between two competing results.
The interview process takes almost 2,5 months. I have been interviewed by 5 different senior managers. a job that is not even a manager. Horrible automated system with confusing and chaotic and misleading information about rejection despite successful passing to 2nd and 3rd round. Very disappointing.
I applied online. I interviewed at Amazon (Boston, MA) in Oct 2020
Interview
They use the STAR method which isn't anything new and they do send you documents to help you prepare. That being said, the folks who were actually interviewing me were unprepared, mundane, and didn't even seem to know anything about the job or team. Not sure how that's relevant considering Amazon is a huge company with varying cultures depending on each team and pillar...I had several interviews and ended up calling it because it was so much time an effort I was putting in while getting very little out of the interview. Suggestion to Amazon is provide candidates with individuals who can speak to the basics of the role and responsibility, people with personality would be ideal...
You need to engage candidates as much as they need to wow you.

Question 1
"Tell me a time when..."
I had at least 10 questions in a row starting with this. Pretty awful.
