Questions are a mix of general interest, culture fit, technical and behavioral. Leadership principles, STAR method, soft skills, and technical skills are important. Interviewers dig deep to ensure details supporting your answers are there.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Amazon (China, AL) in Apr 2018
Interview
The interview starts with 1 or more phone interviews, focusing on functional skill. If an candidate passes the phone interview, he/she will be invited into a loop interview.
Loop interview is made up by 4-6 interviews, focusing on Amazon Leadership Principle. An candidate should use real examples to answer these questions in STAR style.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Amazon (Mailand) in Apr 2022
Interview
Steps: 1 interview with HR, 1 with hiring manager, written exercise, 5 person full day interviews.
During the 2nd interview of the 5 in the final step, I was told that they had already hired someone for the position I was interviewing for, but we could complete the process in case a new opening could be a good fit based on the outcome.
A week later I was told that I hadn't gotten the job (what a surprise) but I could be considered for a Program Manager position (inferior level to the one I was applying for) if I wanted to since I had done a good job during the interview and I seemed a good fit for the company but I lacked extensive stakeholder management experience.
I told them it was ok and the recruiter told me to look for potential jobs on the website and send them to him so he could verify if one of those would be ok and let me know asap. I did as I was asked but he never got back to me even after multiple follow up email.
It was a complete waste of time and energy.
