Avanade approached me unsolicited about a PM position. I was told at the beginning there would be 1 phone interview to assess my technical skills/knowledge, a second phone interview assessing how I handle specific client scenarios, and then, if I passed those two, a final face-to-face or Skype interview. I successfully completed the first two rounds and was told by the second interviewer and the coordinator that I was cleared for the final interview. I began working with a coordinator to schedule the final interview. Suddenly I received a form rejection email from Avanade. Assuming there was a glitch, I reached out to the Recruiting Manager. She initially tried to schedule a phone conversation to discuss the rejection email. I asked her to just tell me what was going on. She informed me that I didn't have experience with Earned Value, which in the past was optional but is now an absolute must have. Based on this, they turned me down.
This showed an amazing lack of coordination and professionalism on Avanade's part. How can you interview candidates for a position without being clear on all the requirements beforehand? If they treat their candidates this way, how do they treat their employees? Run away from this company unless you want to be jerked around like I was.
