BNP Paribas interview questions

This was a phone interview with what seemed like a contracted firm to screen talent. The process was very straight forward with technical questions such as my background with Python and ML libraries such as Numpy, Pandas, and SciKitLearn. However the interviewer did not seem to have a technical background as I mentioned my current employers desire to move away from Python due to performance limitations and its preference to migrate to static safe and compilable languages such as Go. What was very surprising however was the massive gap between the budgeted salary and the required skill sets that they had documented for the role. This was supposed to be for a very senior position with over ten years of experience with software development, testing, ML, and data analysis experience yet the absolute maximum that they could offer was $90K. I politely told the recruiter that there was no possible way that the company was going to attract top talent with such low compensation. Because the company has operations in NYC and in Jersey City, NJ the recruiter said that the company could not ask for past compensation history which I did find to be refreshing. Unfortunately the company failed to conduct a study on current market conditions for technical expertise. Simply put, the interview was very brief after the topic of salary expectations came up.
