I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Barclays (New York, NY) in Jan 2012
Interview
It was the longest interview process I ever went through. I had close to 10 interviews. They were face to face, via telephone, coffee meet and greets and video conferencing. They were global. I met with people in Asia and London. The process took over 3 months.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Barclays (New York, NY) in Apr 2013
Interview
People were great; they were very friendly. They explained the job, roles, responsibilities with full clarity. I talked to quite a few individuals, some of them senior managers. In terms of what would be expected of a good interview, this interview fully met all of the expectations I had. I was very pleased with the discussions. There were several 15 minute breaks which allowed me to rest. During interviews I was encouraged to ask questions about the job, roles and responsibilities, future of the firm etc.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Barclays (New York, NY)
Interview
The interviews were collegial, very general and focused on my general experience. All 3 interviewers were careful to explain the role, responsibilities and what they were seeking in the candidate. They were very open to answering my questions about the group. The main issue for me was that I was interviewing for a role more junior than my experience warrants, which they confirmed after the process. They were incredibly positive about my ability to contribute to the firm and indicated they would support my application to positions at more senior levels with other groups. They did not have the budget flexibility to elevate the VP role, however, and also felt the work would not fully utilize my skills. All in all, despite not getting the job, a very positive experience.
