I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Bloomberg (London, England) in Oct 2015
Interview
I applied online at the end of August 2015, then I was given a phone interview at the beginning of October.
The interview lasted around 40 minutes. The first questions were about my cv, then they asked about financial market news and Bloomberg products.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why should Bloomberg hire you? Why do you want to work in the financial market?
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Bloomberg (Hongkong) in Apr 2014
Interview
We were divided into four 5-person groups and supposed to give a 20-second self-introduction in a format as “Name-graduate school-major-an interesting point of you”
Then another two employees gave a brief introduction of Bloomberg, performance, this position and their main revenue and product. Everything was going under the interaction with interviewers.
Then there were 2 tasks distributed to four groups: A group discussion & one debate. When 2 groups were discussion the debate materials, the other 2 were discussing the question. The discussion theme is “how do you invest 1 million dollars” and the debate is about a fairy tale called “Little mermaid”
My tips for the investment discussion is be analytical, fruitful & cooperative. Showing good communication skills and teamwork based on a good knowledge of investment approaches is critical. And before the “Mermaid” debate, a discussion is meaningful within your team, it helps clarify your thought and learn from other people’s thinking method, but more importantly, you should focus on your 1-minute statement in the following debate step, instead of debate “as real” or breaking other people’s argument.
Casual process whereby I was asked a few questions about myself, my interest in finance, and exactly why I felt Bloomberg was the ideal place for my skills. After this a few questions about the current situation regarding the Fed's decision not to raise interest rates was asked.
