I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Boston Consulting Group in Jan 2025
Interview
1. Recruiter Call: Standard recruiter screening.
2. Hiring Manager Interview: an hour long interview with the hiring manager and a lead scientist. Involved brief introduction, questions on responsible generative AI, a 20-minute case study and Q&A at the end.
The recruiter and both interviewers were very friendly but the interview process was inconsistent and lengthy. The recruiter emphasized that there will be no case studies when I talk to the hiring manager and I shouldn't prepare for one, but the interview involved a case study. Also, the recruiter told me there were no technical rounds (which was surprising) but the hiring manager said there will be a technical round. Also, it took two weeks for the company to get back to me after I talked to the hiring manager, which is way longer than the average response time. While I was waiting to hear back, the company posted a similar position (exact same responsibilities minus proficiency in the tech stack; exact same salary) with the title "Senior Analyst", which was really surprising and confusing.

Question 1
- Tell me why you're interested in this domain.
- Tell me about relevant projects you've done in this domain.
- What implications would a multi-modal generative AI tool have (compared to a unimodal one) and how would you go about mitigating its biases.
- Case Study: A company wants to use an AI tool to summarize managers' feedback for employees. How would you "systematically" approach identifying the biases of such a tool?
