I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Citi (Pune) in Jan 2017
Interview
Cannot actually could how much rounds to consider here. There were total 7 rounds in entire process.
First F2F round where basic questions about current project and tech stack were asked.
After a gap of month or so, got an interview invite for next rounds.
Day 1:On the day of interview, well interviewer's were not aware of first round , so they asked me to appear for technical MCQ kind of test. After clearing that , panel of two people started taking Interview. After half an hour, one of the panelist(A) left while other continued to take Interview for 1 and half hour. He asked mostly questions around core java, multithreading and was asked to solve problem . The approach I had taken to solve that problem created kind of confusion/discussion amongst them. So earlier panelist(A) came in again to check the solution which went on for another 30 mins.
I cleared that round and it was followed by managerial round for another 30mins.
Received positive feedback about it after a week and another Managerial round was scheduled.
Day 2: As senior manager was busy in a meeting, one of the team lead was asked to take my interview (or may be to pass some time). The TL again asked same multi threading questions and some problems solving kind of questions. Some of which I could not solve completely. It was then followed by Senior manager round which lasted for another one and half hour. It was mostly about framework related , data structures and design patterns questions. After clearing that round, Senior Manager asked me to wait for discussion with HR.
Had discussion with HR about policies and compensation part. HR told me that they would sent out an email asking for documents.
And that's it.. heard nothing from HR after that, which kind of ridiculous.
Interviewer didn't show his face as usual. I've interviewed with Citi bank several times over the years and they never show their face even if its a panel of people.
They asked technical language definition questions. Only has vague answers about what the job is because he doesn't know. His only job is to grill you on whether you know what one java syntax does compared to another. Apparently they think that's the only thing that's important to working for Citi. Do you know how the inner workings of this keyword in java, spring, angular, or sql? Yes? Great. We have 30 more similar questions for you. If you pass this round, we will do this again for 3 more separate interviews where each round another faceless interviewer will ask you another list. After the interviews you learn nothing about the company and give you no reason to want to work there.
1st round HR discussion- good
Second round Technical discussion - nice experience interacting with team
Third round manager - About discussions and understand the culture
Fourth round - HR manager round , To discuss about salary and benefits and
tech interview, asked some basic questions about python and two lc medium questions. Both aint too bad, but I didnt prepare for the interview so I communicated badly, as a result I didnt pass.
