one phone interview and a superday interview consisting of 3 to 4 rounds. The turnaround period is usually about a week. The recruiters communicate very effectively and are always willing to answer your questions during the entire process
I applied through college or university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Citi (Mumbai) in Sep 2021
Interview
Round 1 - Aptitude-Cum-Coding Test
The online test was conducted on AMCAT platform and the test had mainly five sections.
Aptitude Section - This section mainly focused on questions related to quants.
Logical Thinking - Standard questions based on logical reasoning.
Coding MCQs - This section comprises questions related to core computer science topics like OOPs, DBMS etc.
English(passages and grammar) - This section had passages followed by a few questions based on that and basic grammatical questions. This will remind you of your school days.
Coding Section - This round consisted of 2 coding questions.Language preference was C++/Java. Everyone got different questions, like some of them got easy ones and some got intermediate ones. But don't lose hope. They have sectional cutoffs. So even if you attempt them partially, chances of your selection increases. The following questions were asked to me :
a)Given an integer N in the range of 1 to 10^3. Print the numbers from 1 to N^2 in the following way.
Suppose if N = 4,
Then output :
1 2 3 4
9 10 11 12
13 14 15 16
5 6 7 8
b)Given an array of N integers, where N is in range of -10^5 to 10^5, output the maximum number of permutations of the array. The array can contain repeated integers.
Apart from the coding section, you need to be fast because questions
are time consuming. After the online round, 60 people were
shortlisted for the interview.
Round 2 - Technical Round
The interview was taken on AMCAT and it was scheduled for
20 minutes. It started with the cliche tell me about yourself question. Note that he will pick up each and every thing you write in your resume and ask a question on that. So, my resume had Machine learning and he asked me to explain my projects and there were a few follow up questions on the frameworks I used in those projects. The idea is to be thorough with your resume.
Then he asked me to code two standard questions:
1. Check if the given string is a palindrome or not.
2. Print the nth fibonacci number.
While I was coding, he kept on asking me questions based on DBMS and OOPs.
Following is the list of topics covered by him.
DBMS :
Different types of keys and Index
Normalisation
OOPs :
Inheritance
Polymorphism
Data abstraction and Interface
Types of Constructors and Destructors
There were alot of follow up questions on these topics. Some other questions asked to me were difference between interpreter and compiler, what is travelling salesman problem etc. Then he asked me if I had any questions for him. I asked for more clarity on the role of a summer intern.
As per what I discussed with my other friends, they were asked about the courses they had learned in college till date. So the first course you speak out, the interviewer will start with that. The only piece of advice here is to be clear with your basics.
After round two, 29 people were shortlisted for the HR Round.
Round 3 - HR Round
Again, this round was scheduled on AMCAT. The only tip for this round is “just be yourself”. Be clear about whatever you say and justify it properly. Following questions were asked to me:
What is leadership according to you and who is your real life role model?
Describe one of your bad experiences and what did you learn from that?
Tell me about a situation where you faced problems in making a project and how did you solve that?
Considering the current scenario , what are your suggestions on solving the problem of people using the local trains again?
Why CITIBANK ?
Then he asked me if I had any questions for him(Always ask questions).
I applied online. I interviewed at Citi in Jan 2021
Interview
The interviewer was unprofessional and rude. It felt like he didn’t know how to conduct an interview or have the proper etiquette of it. Within the first 5 minutes I could tell this interviewer wasn’t interested in what I had to say. I felt as if I was judge against before the interviewer had gotten a chance to know me as a candidate. the interviewer didn’t introduce himself or talk about what role he has within the company and talk a little bit about the role I was applying for. Throughout the interview he interrupted me, not letting me finish my sentence or point. For a few of the questions, he interrupted me telling me I wasn’t answering the question that was asked of me. However, I was only able to get a few words in before he interrupted, not allowing me to answering the question at hand. Also, I wasn’t asked any questions about the role or the company at all. I am not sure if this part of the Citi procedure, but it usually is.
