I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Deel (London, England) in Feb 2025
Interview
First got an email from a recruiter based in Europe, he was nice and friendly. The screening call with the recruiter went smoothly, although the recruiter did not have his camera on (he said he was feeling unwell but based on Glassdoor reviews this happens quote often).
Second stage: an interview with a hiring manager in the US, who was wearing a colourful hoodie and a baseball hat during the interview (seriously, a hat?!). She also did record the call (AI notetaker) without asking me for a permission, which is ILLEGAL in Europe. I could say right away that she did not like me. She did not ask me any technical questions. My experience was similar to hers (and the lady would be my direct manager) but my education was of higher level (MSc vs her Bachelors) so I suspected she would not want me to be her competitor and would not advance me, and this, indeed, has happened as I did not even get a chance to do a case study and show my skills to other stakeholders. I also asked the hiring manager to describe the structure of the sales team: her explanation was not clear and she was speaking very quickly, it seemed to me that she had no idea.
In the next days, I received a dry automated email without any explanation. Also, please bear in mind that if you are going to be employed in a EU country outside their office location, they will make you a contractor contract, not a real employment contract. Given the fact that they salary range for this position was around 55k EUR, it is not ideal. Also, shows how they treat their employees as it is an EOR company and it would be very easy for them to make you a proper employment contract (which matters in Europe as you get more benefits and protection).
