The phone screening was about 30 minutes and pretty standard. The online exams were challenging, but I had read up on them and knew what to expect with the proctor. I also did a technical writing assessment that was pretty easy and fun.
The final interview was over Zoom and not in person due to COVID-19. It began with a long-ish presentation about the company and the city of Madison. It felt like they were trying to sell me on the company which I didn't mind except that the day of interviews was already really long. I got to speak to four people over the course of the 2-3 hour interview, and during the end part of the interview, I was told that I was being considered for a Technical Writing position and a Technical Solutions Engineer position because of how well I did on my assessments. They said they'd get back to me in a week with their decision. In two weeks, I finally got a phone call saying they decided to go with someone else which was very disappointing and frustrating after getting so far in the process and being considered for two different roles. Overall, though, the process was pretty good.
