I applied online. I interviewed at Expedia Group in Jan 2015
Interview
I only had a telephone interview. It was directly with the hiring manager. Very bright guy. At first they ask standard question, then they go into cases. Cases test your analytics but also your understanding of the business - they are relevant to Expedia's business. If you are unfamiliar with the business (my case) you might make wrong assumptions and go down the wrong path.

Cases. You need to understand their business model or figure it out on the fly
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Expedia Group (Bellevue, WA) in Jun 2011
Interview
Six interview meetings with various internal groups. Seemed to be going very well. The person that I would be working for seemed to be a good fit. HR was final meeting. I was then advised that I didn't have enough of a tech background. Since I was working for a very similar company in the same job, it must have been something else, but I was not provided any specifics.

Question 1
The first meetings had many technical questions, which seemed to go well. The final meeting with HR seemed to be a very casual meeting, which appeared to be more of an analysis of personality fit. This was difficult to determine what was being evaluated.

Interview
The Indian hiring manager went through my background and asked general questions about my Technical Writing skills and experiences. There was no major questions. Instead he told me about the assignment and what my part would be. For me, the job was right up my alley, and I could have done the job blindfolded. But apparently it was not enough to get an offer.
