I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at FedEx (Dulles, VA) in Feb 2016
Interview
The interview process contained an exam portion followed up with a panel discussion of my answers. The panel consisted of three managers. After the interview the managers reviewed myself and other candidates before hiring. If you are selected you receive an offer letter with your pay and work schedule, and typically have a business week to decide whether to accept or decline the offer.

I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at FedEx (Orlando, FL) in Jan 2012
Interview
The interview process for a Ramp Agent is 50% character-based and 50% knowledge/memorization. Considering I was a Material Handler within the company two years prior to being interviewed for Ramp Agent, my character/personality was already known. As far as the 'knowledge' portion of the interview, I was asked questions based on ramp operations, flight schedules (for the ENTIRE operation, not just AM or PM), and safety procedures. With all of this being said, you will be provided with an interview study guide...if you are not given a study guide, ASK YOUR MANAGER! It'll ensure your chances of nailing the interview substantially. Additionally, don't be afraid to seek some guidance and advice from your current ramp agents and/or manager(s). Trust me: this will give you a competitive edge that will be invaluable!
