I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Gartner (Chicago, IL) in Mar 2016
Interview
HR contacted me through a mutual contact, quick screen, deep dive on 2nd HR call with scripted questions, phone interview with Area Manager, phone interview with Area Vice President, panel with numerous people, (even people they didn't announce), on a video bridge.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Gartner
Interview
Started quickly, but then the process dragged on. They seemed to be quite enamored with themselves, but the sales cycles are very transactional and not consultative. Friendly enough people, but all had a difficult time expressing the value proposition. Thus, I passed on joining them. It is so important that before joining a organization that expectations are clear.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Gartner (Egham, England) in Jul 2013
Interview
Telephone conversation with internal HR recruiter, informal meeting with Hiring Manager, formal panel interview with manager +3 including role-play, final conversation re; package.
Gartner has a very thorough process to unearth core skills and traits which can be applied to their somewhat abstract and value-based offerings. Gartner utilise the ValueSelling framework in their prospect qualification process. They also have an established pathway for experienced sales people to follow and drive a metric based approach to success.
The panel interview includes time for candidates to present themselves and a track record of their sales success and personal motivations, you should expect some strong questioning styles and objection handling. It also includes a role play where you interview a CIO to unearth particular challenges and areas Gartner can address.
