I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Gerdau (Knoxville, TN) in Aug 2010
Interview
I found the job on a department of labor site. The first visit consisted of a tour of the melt shop and rolling mill followed by a few basic questions. The followup visit consisted of a somewhat difficult multi-craft test, and an interview with a maintenance supervisor. The questions were basic and mostly asked about experience with equipment. The test for the process tech position is very difficult and may take up to 3 hours, and there is a behavioral test with it. This test is only survived and passed by few.

Question 1
Interview questions were basic and not too difficult. The test has some unexpected questions on it though.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Gerdau (Nashville, TN) in Jan 2010
Interview
Pretty straight forward interview process. Had 3 interviews, 1 phone call, 1 with HR and another with who would become my direct supervisor. The phone call was pretty easy. They asked some very general questions about my experience and qualifications and it probably only lasted about 10-15min total. The HR interview was also pretty easy but I got the impression that she didn't really know what I would be doing technically, but more trying to get a vibe on my personality. The interview with who would become my direct supervisor was also pretty straight forward but he asked a lot more technical questions and wanted more information about my previous relevant experience.
