I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Gerdau (Tampa, FL) in Nov 2010
Interview
Terrible experience. Got onsite interview call.
Flew down to Tampa to appear final round interview as Gerdau paid travel charges
The most ridiculous experience - Hiring Manager told that I will get feedback within 2 weeks
Interview schedules are very erratic - Not well structured
Finally they gave feedback after 40 days and told that they have offered position to internal candidate.
Very funny. Not sure why they called external candidates ??
Interview experience - Seems senior leaders are not happy with company. got couple of negative remarks during interview
Interviewers are not clear about company's strategy
No discussion about Salary as well.

Question 1
Why do you want to join Gerdau leaving Fortune 100 company
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Gerdau in Jul 2008
Interview
The process of interviewing was very disorganized with purpose not clear with each interviewer. Each interviewer had a different style, but none asked any questions of substance. One person even asked what kind of car i drive and said that he could tell a lot about a person based on the type car they drove.

Question 1
Describe what you would like to achieve in your first 90 days.
The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Gerdau (Tampa, FL) in Jul 2010
Interview
I had a series of phone and on-site interviews. I first had a phone interview with the hiring manager which went real well a good repore was established and the opportunity sounded exciting and challenging. I was next scheduled for an on-site interview with the Director of IT, a couple of peers and the team I would manage. This series of interviews went real well. From the Director and Peers it was the standard tell me about yourself and then specific scenario based questions. From the team it was a two way interview they asking questions about my management style and how I was going to support them and me asking about issues, concerns and expectations. I next was scheduled for an interview with another Sr. Level Director with some of the same scenario based questions and such. It was after this interview that we started salary negotiations and I was very surprised that the salary question came this late into the process. The company is a good company and they have a good work culture. Bottom line is that we could not come to terms on salary.
