I applied in-person. I interviewed at H&M (New York, NY) in Aug 2016
Interview
It was a walk in interview where she asked me about your standard retail/customer services questions. They were opening a new store by the World Trade Center and so they were just asking people who were walking into the store if they were interested in a job at H&M. I have a second interview lined up without having any past retail experience so I'm not sure of the outcome.
The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at H&M (Cork) in Jul 2016
Interview
I saw the job post on the careers websites and applied. About 3-4 weeks later I got a phone call which turned into a 10 minute phone interview. The questions for the phone interview were quite straight forward. After the phone interview I was immediately asked to come in to do a face to face interview. During this interview there were two people: the general manger and a department manager. I was asked a number of more In depth questions by the general manager while the other manager took note. After the face to face interview which lasted approx 15 minutes I was told I would get a call in the following days if I was successful for the next stage. 5 hours later I received a call and I was asked to return for a practical interview. During this practical I was placed in the stockroom, fitting room and the shop floor. I was instructed what to do at each area and worked for 30 mins in each section. After the practical I was given feedback on my performance and once again was told I would get a call if I were successful.
3 step process. Phone interview. Then they will invite you for a second interview, mine was with the store manager. Then the third was with the district manager, asked a few questions and was offered the job.
