Interview
From applying to present this process has lasted for 8+ weeks. I have been through 1 phone interview with a recruiter, 1 face to face interview with a recruiter, and 1 interview with the DM which was a store walk and observation interview. During the 2nd interview they informed me that they don’t actually have an open position and asked me if I would be interested in a department manager role. I have been in retail for over 20 years with 8 years of multi unit so I was not interested in that. Basically they have put an add out to try to lure in store managers and sell them on a lesser role. They are doing background checks early in the process.

Interview
This company advertises Store Manager Positions but are hiring for Department Managers. You sit through a group style interview with 8 other people. Even if you are the first one to answer the questions and have everyone else Piggy Backing off your response, none of the answers are on the topic nor does the interview know how to control the process it then becomes a match not about experience or answering the questions. You wait two weeks to receive an email saying, " You didn't get the job due to strong competition and the specific need we have for the position". Even though I was the only one answers the questions first, not piggybacking off anyone else answer and having 15 years of Fashion, Grocery store management and 3 of those as DMIT, or because you didn't make googly eyes with the interviewer. These positions are not for seasoned professional or those who have the abilities to bring growth to their business. This position is better for those who are new to management.

Interview
This is the most unprofessional HR I have ever dealt with in my career in retail. First, I get the email to schedule an interview and than he ask to reschedule and doesn’t call for the appointed interview time. If you have people like that in your HR Department I rather not be part of it.
