I applied online. I interviewed at Hopper (Vancouver, BC) in Mar 2023
Interview
Had an initial video call with recruiter. I usually pass these without any problems. However the interviewer was not pleasant at all, just going through a list of questions. The interviewer simply replied "understood" after I replied to his questions. It felt like more of an interrogation rather than a conversation. Got an automated standard rejection e-mail the next day. The experience turned me off from the company and I was actually happy to receive the rejection.

Good process: The overall interview process was very well-organized and thorough. I appreciated the clear communication about what to expect at each stage of the process, and the transparency in terms of timelines and expectations. Speedy responses: I was impressed by the speed at which the team responded to my inquiries and kept me updated on the status of my application. It was refreshing to feel like my time and interest were valued, and that the team was invested in moving the process forward as quickly as possible. Interesting problems: I really enjoyed the interview questions and problems that your team presented. They were challenging but also relevant to the role and gave me a good sense of the types of problems I would be working on if I were to join your team. Enjoyed all conversations: Throughout the process, I had the opportunity to speak with several members of the team, and I found each conversation to be engaging and informative. It was clear that everyone I spoke with was passionate about their work and invested in finding the right fit for the role.
