I was a little bit skeptical after reading the Glassdoor reviews and gave it the benefit of the doubt. What a waste of time and effort. I was contacted by a recruiter in Mexico for this position at Hopper. First red flag, I’ve noticed on LinkedIn the recruiter didn’t even work at Hopper at all, but at an insurance company…. I was confused, but he had a Hopper email and I’ve applied for this position directly on their website. So it should be ok right? Then, I was asked to do this data homework assignment, which was supposed to be done in 2-3 hours, following the recruiter’s instructions, but in reality it was so much data that it required a whole day to be completed. Not only that, I was also asked to come up with two social media post mockups, promoting Hopper’s deals. But if you ever check their INSTAGRAM most of their comments are about how this app is scamming people all across the US. After I sent my assignment, I asked a week later if there was any feedback to be shared with me, since it seemed a little bit weird not hearing back from them. The recruiter got back to me saying the person in charge of reviewing the assignment was “sick” and didn’t have the time to do it. Now, today, I received an email in which they decided to “move forward” with another candidate. No feedback, no reason why, nothing, out of the blue. Are they trying to get people to do work for free? What kind of professionalism is this? Are they playing with people’s time? Because it seems to me they are. Totally a scam.
