I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Indeed (Austin, TX) in May 2018
Interview
First interview was via telephone. Second interview was via Google Hangouts. Third interview was supposed to be on-site with the hiring manager. When I arrived on-site for the five-hour interview I was told that the hiring manager would be right with me but I was told to wait because he was in another building. After 15 minutes I called the HR Coordinator because nobody showed up - it turns out the hiring manager wasn't in the same city as me (???).
Entire process was disorganized. I was told to apply for a different job despite exceeding the requirements for this role.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Indeed in Feb 2018
Interview
2 day long interview that throws you immediately into their codebase, but it is seriously gutted and the specs are therefor fragile. You’re asked to write a simple join model and then a more complex filter feature inside a Rails application. Not a lot of guidance and it assumes you understand their business model and how the app is designed (even though you don’t get the full codebase). No questions about career development, past experience/projects. I didn’t feel they took much interest in me as a person - just whether I could do their test. It was a very one sided interview.
Stranger is that this was for an engineering manager role but they asked no questions about management style, how you grow teams, mentor, hire/fire, etc. It felt like they were interviewing for an IC role. When asked they said that all managers start out as ICs at first.

Question 1
How would you write a feature that allowed survey questions to be pulled at random from a group of questions that a candidate hasn’t yet answered and were marked as being able to be random and belonging to questions which qualified (e.g. from a certain category). It could be from more than one category.

Interview
People were very friendly and they made it a comfortable environment to interview in. Didn't ask any programming questions except a basic SQL question. I had one phone screen with a QA manager, 3 onsite interviews with about 10 people and one lunch information.
