Interview
I applied online and reached out to the hiring manager. Didn't hear back at that time. A few weeks later the hiring manager reached out directly for an interview for later in the week.
Well, the manager did ask for my availability but still did not set up a Zoom meeting. I contacted the manager at the end of the day, and didn't receive a response.
The next afternoon the manager contacted me with a message that he/she got tied up and asked for my availability once more, which I happily gave. I asked if he/she would send me a meeting request. We tried to meet but due to unfortunate circumstances were unable to meet. She/he said if the screening process continues she/he would reach out. Well, that didn't happen and I received a "dear John" letter from a recruiter stating that other candidates are being considered instead of me. That was on 1/4 directly after I contacted the hiring manager once again. But right before that email I also received ag enerated email on 1/3 that my resume was being reviewed for the role.
I chalked that up to wires being crossed. Next, I received an email from a different recruiter on 1/16 for an interview. Which is it? Either you want to screen me or you don't.
I met with that recruiter the very next day which I felt went well. He explained to me the process for next steps and I remained hopeful. The one thing he asked for was my resume and stated if I had any additional questions I could reach out. Well I didn't receive any information about next steps for me, so I contacted that recruiter a week later to follow up. I never heard back.
The irony of all of this is, I expressed in our chat the ghosting that I have received during my job search and he seemed to empathize with that experience, but he also did the same thing. Wow!

Interview
It is a 2-step interview process. The 1st portion of the interview is the standard 'phone' interview where the recruiter briefly describes expectations of the job role, ask standard questions of your previous history and determine whether you qualify for the 2nd round of interviewing. This is where things get tricky. The 1st interview is very easy and relaxed. The 2nd portion is through HireVue (virtual only) where you answer a series of camera-on pre-recorded video questions. (You do not talk to a real person, you play the video they've recorded and see yourself on camera, answering back). VERY difficult if you aren't used to this format. After the video recorded questions, it asks a lot of tax scenario-based, questions referring to forms commonly used during tax season. These are split between answering multiple choice and a portion where you briefly type out the answer in sentence form. Also difficult if you do not have certain things memorized about tax. The minute & a half allowed to research and answer the question isn't a good timeframeif you aren't well versed in multiple forms and situations.
