I applied online through glassdoor.com within a week I received a phone call from Lidl recruitment team which was kind of a 5 minute telephone interview where someone asked me a handful of straightforward questions about general retail work and a bit about my retail background and what experience I had and then one scenario type of question was asked then they thanked me for my answers and said they would like to invite me to a interview at the store I applied to work at and gave me times and dates to attend within the next few days, interview attire was smart/casual not formal or suit wearing kind of interview just make sure you looked clean, smart and presentable, I then attended the face to face interview in one of the stores offices with the store manager and area manager, very friendly and welcoming, questions were very easy and mostly just common knowledge about retail work in general and then obviously asked questions about myself personally and also work experience and what retail background I had etc, overall a very good relaxed and easy going interview the best I could have hoped for as I was very nervous anyway, the store manager then showed me out but quickly took me around the store to quickly show me the warehouse, bakery and shopfloor etc and then I think about 2 days later I got a phone call to say I had got the job! So from start to finish I think it took a week from when I applied to actually being given the job....then next is the Lidl welcome event at your chosen RDC which you attend within 2 weeks of being given the job then after the welcome event you get a start date which is about a week after and then you have 4-6 weeks of in store training by one of the in store appointed staff trainers which entails both hands on training and working with an ipad to go through training modules
