Very straightforward process.
One person interviewed me and asked a few questions.
Did not last more than an hour, if that.
I had one interview and then an offer was made.
I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Lidl in Sep 2020
Interview
I applied through an online application that consisted of submitting my CV, a cover letter, and then completing an online assessment. I received an email 3 days later saying my application was being considered by the recruitment team, and the following day I received a phone call from recruitment. He asked if I was still interested in the position, followed by some questions about my availability, flexibility, right to work in the UK, etc. He booked me in for a face to face interview at the following day.
My face to face interview was with the store manager and assistant manager, and they were both very friendly. It was more of an informal chat with some interview questions thrown in which was nice as it took the the pressure off. Make sure you do your research as they ask what you know about the company as a whole, and about aspects of the shop. The interview lasted around 15 minutes and I was told I would find out the outcome the next day. I received a call the following day offering me the job, however I had already accepted another job offer that morning.
All around was a positive experience and I would accepted the job had I not already been offered another position elsewhere. My main comment to other people applying is make sure you definitely want the job. The two interviewers really drilled it in that this is not an easy job, and told me they come Christmas, you can kiss you contracted hours goodbye as you’ll be doing 45/50 hour weeks with very few days off.
Phone interview and then in person interview. Pretty quick and easy and doesn’t take long to hear back. Questions are pretty standard like ‘why Lidl?’ and ‘what’s your favourite item we sell’. Also a few scenario based questions.
I applied online. I interviewed at Lidl (Cardiff, Wales) in Jan 2026
Interview
Really nice manager and chill atmosphere. Didn't ask me any scenario based questions or any that I had to provide a "star" like paragraph; more focused on how prepared/ committed/ able you are to do a lot of work.
