After spending all of my career in one sect of marketing, I applied for an entry-level, contract, Marketing Associate position at LinkedIn to build skills in new areas. After submitting my resume, I had a phone interview with the hiring manager. It was clear that the interviewer was more nervous and less experienced than me but we made it through without any issue. A week later, she sent me an email to let me know they prefer to hire someone who is "early in their career". This was the first time ever that I felt discriminated against due to my age/work experience. This really did not sit well with me. I've always held LinkedIn in high regard but this experience left me feeling very disappointed.

One 30 minute phone interview - relating mainly to the company and it's culture & values. Some time spent clarifying the skills and experience for the job. One 60 minute on-site interview including a pre-prepared presentation.
