I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at LinkedIn (Istanbul) in Sep 2016
Interview
I applied the position through Linkedin. After 2 months, they called me and ask for the interview date.
Only after 2 weeks we had a phone interview. It was very easy, she asked the standard interview questions. The Interviewer told me that we had a nice conversation and I would get a feedback in a few days. Then she hasn't responed for 1 and half week. I sent an email her about the application status and she said that I had a successful interview but they were considering an internal candidate for this position and she would get back to me for the next steps. Again, I waited for 2 more weeks without any answer. After 2 weeks, I sent her an email whether they would continue to the recruiting process or not; the interviewer told me that she forgot to answer, they have decided to proceed with the internal candidate. It was very disappointing that Linkedin, one of companies that I admire, had such a unprofessional recruiting process with no respect to the candidates.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at LinkedIn (Chicago, IL) in Jul 2016
Interview
I applied via an internal referral link. After speaking with the referral coordinator, I progressed to a phone screen with the recruiter. Call went well, she said I was a great fit and aligned well with the role. At the end, I was told next step would be a call with the sales team. Well, one month after the phone screen and three unanswered emails later, she replied and said there had been a death in the family and would get back to me with feedback shortly. I followed up once from there but never heard back. Life 100% happens and I absolutely understand but one month+ of empty words is beyond unprofessional. My guess is she was avoiding having to deliver bad news. Isn't that a recruiters job tho? :/
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Behavioral questions. Walk me through your LinkedIn profile. Tell me about your current role. Elaborate on how you've reached the success you have. Why do you want to work for LinkedIn, etc.
I applied through other source. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at LinkedIn (Mountain View, CA) in Jun 2016
Interview
LinkedIn contacted me first. After two telephone interviews (initial screening, and technical), I was invited to an on-site interview at their Mountain View headquarters.
LinkedIn arranged travel for me. They worked within my constraints and did not pressure me to make a particular date.
The on-site interview took most of the day. I met with representatives from H.R., management, and several SREs (one or two at a time), to discuss different aspects of the position. They asked relevant questions and asked me to work through relevant tasks. I also had lunch with an SRE at the LinkedIn cafeteria.
Everyone I worked with during the interview process was friendly and helpful. I did have difficulty communicating with one SRE during due to his very heavy accent.
