I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement (Union Gap, WA) in Sep 2008
Interview
From the time they first call you in until the last day of orientation they are closely listening/watching your every move. The HR manager told me (after I finished my training), that from the first time she called me to come in for an interview that she was testing to see how I spoke to a stranger. So act firm and outgoing during the whole process. Oh and dont forget to smile, sit-up straight, and keep eye contact during your interview. This company really watches for these things.
You will also be asked questions like "name a time where you were put into a difficult situation, but were able to get out of it". With these just try and remain calm, but dont take too long to answer the question, otherwise they think you are lying.
I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement (Raleigh, NC) in May 2010

All interviews in one day at local store, HR interview typical background questions, evaluating ability to deal with customer demands, work well with others and availability to work any shift seemed most important. Tour of store with opportunity to speak briefly with workers. Individuall Interview with two Asisstant Store managers. Questioned to evaluate personal work ethic, sense of responsiblilty, work experience, skills form prior work. The people spoke professionally with a desire to get to know me as an individual. The office space was limited but fuctional and adaquate. The store overall was clean, workers wseemed friendly and moved about their rsponsibilities with little supervison.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
You suspect an employee is stealing petty things from the store, you have no proof, what action do you take?
You have a good working relationship with a guy and are becomming buddies. He has been helpful showing you the ropes. He runs the forklift into a rack support and bends it. It should be reported to the supervisor but he asks you not to because he turned over a Refrigerator last week. What do you do?
