I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Macy's in Jun 2013
Interview
I applied online and got an email the following day to schedule an interview (my first interview) It was very simple with standard questions about availability, why you'd like to work there, teamwork skills, etc... Interview was only around 15 minutes. I was told the cosmetics manager wasn't in at the time so I would have to wait a week to get called in for second interview. Got called a week later and went in for the second interview the next day. They hired me. Everyone was very friendly and nice.
Why do you want to work at Macy's?
What is your availability?
Describe a time when you worked on a team. (What were your goals? What did you accomplish?)
Why should we hire you? What can you bring to our company?
Are you comfortable applying make up on customers? (This one was emphasized in both interviews)
Are there any cosmetic lines you are familiar with? (always a good thing to go in knowing some of their brands and information about the company)
Emphasis on:
Teamwork
Product Knowledge
Customer Service

Interview
I applied online and got an email to schedule an interview the next day. I scheduled an interview for the the next week on Thursday (which was today). I was 5 minutes early for my appointment. It took about 10 minutes for me to be waited on before my interview took place. Everyone was pretty friendly and I got pretty good vibes. My interview was pretty simple only 6 or 7 questions. At the end off the interview she told me my answers were good and the account manager would be giving me a call in the next couple days for the phone interview. My questions were:
Tell me a group success you've had
Tell me about yourself
Name a time you had to sell something to a stranger
Whats your availability?
Are you comfortable applying cosmetics to other people's faces?
How would you build a relationship with your customers?
Currently waiting on the next interview :)

Question 1
How would you build a relationship with your customers?

Interview
I applied for the position online thinking I would not get an interview because I had no cosmetics experience, however I did have extensive retail experience. I was invited to schedule myself for an interview with the cosmetics manager a few days later. The interview lasted quite awhile because I spoke a lot about my retail experience, which the manager did seem to like. I was then told I would be getting a call from the regional manager of the brand. I got that call a few days later and interviewed with her the next week. After that interview I was told I may be contacted by the counter manager, and was contacted a week later. So this was a long process, (3 weeks) but I did get the job and I accepted it.
