I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Macy's (Honolulu, HI) in Apr 2012
Interview
I applied online for the open position of Beauty Advisor. It was your typical online application--register to apply, upload a resume and cover letter, fill out the application and complete a questionnaire. It took about 40 minutes. The next day I received an email with an interview invite and I needed to follow the link provided, log on to my account and pick a date and time to be seen for an interview. There was an opening for the next day and I selected that one. Upon scheduling, I received a confirmation email with directions to the store and where to go when I get there. The next day, I arrive for my interview and met with the department manager. He took me to an open spot in the housewares department and conducted the interview there. He asked me questions like, "tell me about a time when..." and why I wanted to work at the cosmetics counter. Also about my previous employment and what my positions were. It was about 40 minutes long, standing in front of the towels displayed on a shelf. I wore heels and my feet were killing me standing in one place. They actually fell asleep! But I digress. My interviewer was pretty laid back, he looked at his papers most of the time, and kind of "mmhmm-mmhmmed" my responses. He told me there weren't many hours available at the cosmetic counters so I would probably start off in a different department at $8/hr. I was disappointed because the position advertised wasn't available at all, and the pay was too low for what was expected. I thought the interview went well, but I never got a reply back. Not even to tell me I didn't get the job. After what I found out, I probably wouldn't have accepted it anyway.

Question 1
Tell me about a time when you had an unhappy customer and what was the outcome?
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Macy's (Woodbridge, NJ) in May 2012
Interview
I applied online and recieved an email a week later inviting me to an interview. I scheduled it online and recieved a confirmation the day before the interview. On the day of the interview I arrived at HR and they were expecting me, I sat and waited for the Cosmetics Counter Manager. She was very nice and friendly, gave me a little background info on her career at Macys, then I had the chance to talk about myself. Afterwards she asked me questions about certain situations with customers and in the workplace. She seemed to like me and scheduled a 2nd interview a week later so I can meet the general store manager. I then met with her and she asked me 2-3 questions and then hired me on the spot, the 2nd interview was very quick.

Question 1
Why do you think foundation is the most important product when it comes to sales?
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Macy's in Dec 2011
Interview
The applications process is fully automated online and works well. I applied online and was called approximately 3 weeks later. I was interviewed twice before being hired by 2 different area managers. The interviews were very short and had a light casual tone to them. The training is all fully automated and takes several days to complete and then you are put on the floor.
