      Graduate - Retail Management Interview

      Feb 5, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Marks & Spencer in Feb 2016

      Interview

The application procedure was simple. I have waited for 2 months after online test to get an invitation to the AC. The assessment day includes four parts. Remember to prepare all your ID and travel reimbursement. Group exercise - based on a global retailer' recruiting on Christmas sale. Coaching exercise - a role play to coach a colleague. Presentation - case analysis and then present to assessor with couple of questions (I would say it's the hardest part because there's too much information). Interview - traditional motivation and value-based questions. The whole day was quite enjoyable but very formal. It should have a store tour as well however we canceled.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Why M&S? Why retail? What's the market position of M&S? What about other competitors? A time you face a change. A time you inspire others.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Marks & Spencer (London, England) in Jan 2020

      Interview

Online application, 3 normal tests (personality, job specific and gamified) then assessment centre. At the assessment centre: 3 exercises, 1 business pitch to potential investors with info given on the moment, 1 interview with a store manager and 1 group task solving an "escape room". Not easy, nor difficult, just come prepared! Very chilled day, with a lot of "pause" time and only some 2 hours of real testing

      Question 1

Tell me about one time you had to deal with an unsatisfied customer

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Marks & Spencer (Worcester, England) in Jan 2016

      Interview

M&S gives 1 to 1 interview. The interview begins with background checking, asks some personal achievement. Then turn to the motivational questions. For example, why marks and spencer, why this role, why this office, why this industry. Next, it turns to ask you about the brand value. There are 4 brand values, which all begin with "tell me a time when you....". After that, it is your turn to ask question, which should be open and positive.
