I interviewed at Marks & Spencer (Birmingham, England)
Interview
The interview was friendly and straightforward. I was asked about my customer service experience, ability to work in a team, and how I would handle difficult situations. The interviewer also explained M&S values and asked why I wanted to work there. It felt more like a conversation than a test, and they really wanted to see if I would fit into the customer-first culture.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Q: Tell me about a time you delivered great customer service.
A: I gave an example where I helped a customer find an alternative product when what they wanted was out of stock, which resulted in positive feedback.
Q: Why do you want to work at M&S?
A: I explained that I admire the brand, enjoy working with people, and see M&S as a place where I can grow while contributing to excellent customer service.
I applied for a part time customer assistant job only to get there and be told that role was filled, and the only thing left was a full time bakery job. The manager was also very rushed in interviewing me and didn't ask many questions about me. I wasted £10 on the commute for that awful experience...
In-depth but the person interviewing me was bored and clearly looked like he could be elsewhere. Felt embarrassed to be there and got stressed out answering questions because of interviewers lack of well, anything to be honest.
