I applied online. I interviewed at Marks & Spencer
Interview
The interview process was a role play exercise. You always have to put the customer first and meet their needs above all else. As it always should be in retail. Friendly, open and informative with a strong customer awareness at all times
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How have you given good customer service?
Have you dealt with a difficult customer - give example
The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Marks & Spencer (Kingston upon Hull, , , England)
Interview
It took 2 weeks. I did an online assessment and received an email to confirm an interview.
The interview process was a role play and a question answer session. I found role play a very awkward situation and couldn't act the way I would have done with a real customer.
I would suggest do lots of role play practice with someone before going for the interview.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Marks & Spencer (Glasgow, Schottland) in Mar 2011
Interview
The initial stage was an online test (pyschometric) which did ask some fairly obtuse questions. Quite time-consuming. This was later followed by face-to-face interview and role play. The role play was quite awkward, but required me to take the position of a sales assistant in foods helping someone to cater for a baby shower. By referring to current promotions and using my initiative to suggest items which I knew from personal experience, I was marked favorably. Although successful in the process, there was not a role available with hours which suited my education commitments. I was then contacted and offered a position around 8 months later.
