Medtronic R&D Engineer I interview questions

The interview was through Cisco WebEx. It was a 15-minute interview and the interviewers were very nice and polite. There was one from HR and 2 from R&D. Most of the questions were about my work ecperience and how I handles situations at work.

I applied via an agency in the UK. First I had a telephone interview followed by an interview in Galway. Both interviews went well. At the medical I was told that having heart disease was a 'significant issue'. Perhaps the nurse doesn't know the industry Medtronic operates in? Regardless of that I was offered a position on hourly rates. As such I had to have my own private limited company and this is where the problems started. The agency in the UK refuse to do business with Irish umbrella companies stating that I had to use a company they are complaint with. When I contacted the companies they wanted me to use I found out that they required a National Insurance number. This would mean that I pay taxes through the UK government. The problem is that I would also have to pay taxes to the Irish government. As I would not benefit in the least from paying taxes to the two governments I turned down the position. The agency, Str-eam which is part of the STR Group, would have done very well from this arrangement but the engineer agreeing to this would be better off in a PAYE position.
