I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Medtronic (Irvine, CA) in Mar 2015
Interview
I had to call the manager to interview on the phone. I have never done a phone interview before and did not really get a good idea of what the job would be like. It was a job I've never done before so I was at a disadvantage in speaking to what she was looking for. The staffing agency did not prepare me well enough.

I applied online. I interviewed at Medtronic in Apr 2015
Interview
Applied online. They sent e-screen, I filled it out, and got called for a phone interview. The hiring manager asked for more clarification from some of my eScreen responses. Got called for an in-person interview. Met with 7 different people, all who asked the usual questions plus canned STAR questions from HR. My responses were all well prepared. Got a call about 2 weeks later saying I didn't get it because someone else had more experience.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Medtronic (Minneapolis, MN)
Interview
My interview process consisted of a conference call with different people with whom I'll work together in the summer. I really enjoyed it, they were very friendly and asked some questions about my previous projects, programming languages and other stuff.
After that, it was a little bit painful because the company running the international background check was very disorganized which cost me a few gray hairs.
